Do my chickens lay more eggs when they are let out or when they stay in the coop.
Question: Will they lay more in the coop or when they are let out of the coop?
Hypothesis: They will lay more when they are let out.
Reasoning: I think that they will lay more when they are let out because they have more to eat and more space. I think that they might also be laying eggs outside of the coop when they are let out. There is also sometimes a snake in the nesting boxes and that takes away from the eggs. But I also think that there are so many chickens that it will not make much of a difference. But it will be noted
Introduction: I live out in the country about 10 miles out of Chapel Hill. At my house we have about 26 chickens. We started with 12 chickens and a rooster. After a year we started to incubate a bunch of eggs. After 20 days we started to see little cracks in the eggs. After about 3 or 4 days all but about 5 or 6 eggs had hatched and we got about 27 hens and 7 roosters. They grew large and then the roosters started beating up the older hens. So we had to kill some of the roosters. So we killed 3 of them and were left with 3. So when the newer hens got around 7 months old they should start laying eggs soon. Right now we are getting around 4 to 7 eggs when we should be getting 2 or 3 dozen eggs a day. So we are just waiting for the newlings to start laying and then we will get a ton of eggs.
Dependent variable: The chickens.
Dependent variable: Inside the coop or outside the coop.
Materials:
26 chickens
10 nesting boxes
1 rooster
1 guinea hen
Our chickens when they are in their pen.
Space is
Chickens annex.
We made the chickens annex when the younger chickens started getting their down feathers and were
Nesting boxes.

14 eggs total
Conclusion: The weather during the two weeks that I was doing these experiments was about 70 degrees with on and off clouds. When the chickens were outside the coup they layed a total of 21 eggs. When the chickens were inside the coop they layed a total of 14 eggs. What I think happened was that they had more space and they could eat more of all the bugs and other things on the ground instead of just eating pellets all day, when they were outside. So therefore happier chickens mean that they lay more eggs.
